Tabata Training- Whats the buzz all about?

We have done some of this training in a kickboxing class I take.

So I wanted to learn what I could about it. So far.. Im lovin it!!

The basis of Tabata Training is 4 minutes of intense interval training/circuit training.

The Tabata protocol is a high-intensity training regimen that produces remarkable results. A Tabata workout (also called a Tabata sequence) is an interval training cycle of 20 seconds of maximum intensity exercise, followed by 10 seconds of rest, repeated without pause 8 times for a total of four minutes.

4 minutes of pain to gain!!

How effective can just 4 minutes of exercise be? ... Very. You will be amazed at how intense the four minutes of exercise will feel. The intervals tax both your aerobic and anaerobic energy systems. To be clear, this isn't "eight sets of eight," although the goal of doing eight reps in each of the 20-second clusters is about right. Instead it's "as many reps as I can get in" during the twenty seconds, followed by ten seconds rest.

Note the 10-second rest periods in the Tabata workout are important, both physically and mentally. Not only do they allow partial recovery, they also provide psychological relief. Switching back and forth from work to rest makes the workout go quickly. Plus, it allows you to train at a higher level of intensity, which what intervals are all about.

Calories in- Calories out!

I have had quite a time these last few weeks losing weight or lack thereof.

You would think as long as I have done this I would just know things. WRONG

For instance... the more you work out, the more you need to eat.

I have always heard this I guess, but I seriously could not wrap my head around it..

nor did I want too.

Now after to talking to a few gals..

Im talking about gals in a position to tell me why this is a must!!

I have decided that this week I will experiment and eat more when Im working out.

Im using http://www.myfitnesspal.com/ to log my food and my workouts.

As I log my exercise, it bumps up my calories.. telling me what I need to eat.

Makes it so easy for me to know how many I need to be eating.

Yet, I find it harder than heck to get more in. But I will!!!

On a normal day I should be eating 1640... thats with no exercise.

With exercise... I should be getting between 1900-2100

Depending on the intensity of my workouts.

so here it goes people!!

A full week of dedication to the calories!!!

Who would have ever thought I would be told to eat more! Photobucket

Circuit Training

Need I say more??

oh wait... ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! ok thats it!! lol

I have been scared to death to go to this class because of what people have told me. And after tonight I find it to be true. Harder than anything I have ever been thru and yes, that includes child birth. I have never in my life have ever thought that being run over by a MAck truck was a far better choice. I am truly not kidding!!!

Circuit.. lets define this.

A. A closed usually circular line that goes around an object or an area.

B. A path or route a complete traversal of which without a local change of direction returning to the starting point.

C. The act of following a path or route.

Ok so lets take point B ... there is nothing fun about busting your hiney going around the first path, when only to find out you must again follow the same route that almost killed you the first time. So onto the same circuit for a second time. (killer)

only to find out that when I crawled to my last station, it was time for a brand new path!!!!

WTH, did she not try to kill me the first 2 times??? I mean cmon already!

I was ready to walk at this point, but something inside me said.. for the love of god Robin.. PUSH THRU it. I hate when I try to reason with myself and and myself wins. Hate her sometimes..lol

Needless to say I made thru 1 round of circuit 3 , and with the thought of me tossin my cookies in front of 20 other women I have to work out with on a daily basis, I decided to save my self the embarressment and pat myself on the back for what I had just accomplished.

I have much respect for people who do this and dont need to stop for breaks.

At this point I have truly have a love/hate relationship with class.. but I will tell you this.

I WILL BE BACK!!

And I WILL complete everything.. without stopping, without walking and without having to vomit haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

YOU AINT GOT NOTHIN ON ME CIRCUIT!!!!

see you soon.. mwahhhhhhhhhhhh

(note to self::: bring a change of clothes, because you will be SOAKED!!)

(p.s. I decided I hate mt. climbers)

(p.p.s. lemon squeezes are ridiculous! I only say that bcuz the trainer did 10 to my 2..nuf said!)
